Workshop with Tavo Grijalva

THE HANDSTAND JOURNEY, SATURDAY, JUNE 24, 1 - 3 PM

A 2-hour session focused on providing you with all the necessary tools to help you achieve your first handstand and improve your practice if you are already maintaining balance. You will learn to prepare your body in order to reach a straight line or Hollow back position, holding the “line” will facilitate and fast track your progress, allowing you to find and hold your balance with less effort, and for longer periods of time.

We'll cover:

  • Fundamentals and principles of a Handstand

  • Mobility training for your wrists, shoulders, spine and hips (joint health)

  • Strength and balance dynamics for being upside down

  • How to progress with the wall and move away from the wall

  • Main Handstand positions, its regressions and progressions

*Includes a digital manual of the theoretic principles and main dynamics of the workshop

EXPANDING FROM THE HEART, SUNDAY, JUNE 25, 1 - 3 PM

Deep dive asana practice focused on backbends and heart openers, applying mobility and biomechanics to create deeper, yet wider and healthier spine extensions. A systematic approach to help you release any pinching or discomfort while performing backbends, whether it is a simple posture like low lunge or pigeon pose, or an “advance” posture such as wheel pose of full dancer.

We'll cover:

  • Flexion of the shoulders and Extension of the hips.

  • Creating space for your lower back.

  • Activating and creating awareness of your upper back.

  • The strength and actions of the legs in order build healthier backbends.

Both practices are open to all levels as the methodology and program are designed to help you improve regardless if you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner.
